Quest for Glory I: So You Want to Be a Hero
Quest for Glory I: So You Want to Be a Hero is the first in a series of five games created by Lori and Corey Cole. It was originally published by Sierra On-Line in 1989 for MS-DOS, under the name Hero’s Quest: So You Want to Be a Hero. The original featured beautiful 16-color EGA graphics and used typed commands for the player’s actions. The game was remade in 1992 with 256-color VGA graphics, point-and-click gameplay, and characters made from stop-motion clay models.
Quest for Glory is unique among Sierra releases for combining RPG mechanics along with the usual adventure gameplay. There are three character classes to choose from—Fighter, Magic User, and Thief—with different abilities and unique solutions to puzzles. This was also planned as a series from the start, with both the manual and the game itself referencing the second game in the series. Players are encouraged to import their save file from the first game into the second, carrying over their character and even some of the choices made throughout the game.

Part 1
Tonight I’m starting my first ever playthrough of Quest for Glory! I’ll probably spend most of the stream picking a character class to be honest.
