Shadowgate
Shadowgate is a point-and-click adventure game developed by ICOM Simulations and released for Macintosh in 1987. It was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1989, one of many ports and remakes over the years. The game is perhaps best known in its NES form, but the Macintosh interface is unique and has a lot of charm.
Shadowgate is part of the MacVenture series that includes Uninvited and two Déjà Vu games. These were among the earliest point-and-click adventure games, and include some novel game mechanics like drag-and-drop inventory items, and containers that are represented using standard Mac windows. Most of the MacVenture games were later ported to the Nintendo Entertainment System, with a simplified interface better suited to a game controller.
