Trev to the Rescue!

Streamed on September 15, 2023

Trev to the Rescue! is an Australian FMV point-and-click adventure game. It was developed by Powervision Multimedia and released by Dataworks Australia in 1997. Geoff Wilkie designed, programmed, co-wrote, and filmed the game, and it stars his son, Trevor Wilkie, as Trev. The game was filmed in Australia and features a number of real locations.

In the game, Trev’s brother Daniel has fallen ill after eating some bad berries. Unfortunately the ambulance drivers refuse to come to the house because Trev’s dad “went mad producing his last computer game.” So it’s up to Trev to find a cure, while his mother looks after Daniel. The back cover details some of the adventures that await you: “Explore the house and street where you live, have a game of one-on-one basketball, search for clues by the river, visit Mount Brown, known for it’s mountain biking tracks and crazy hermit, [and] hike through the nearby national park and rainforest.”

Eureka Multimedia re-released the game in 2001 under the name Problem Solving & Logical Thinking: Trev’s Excellent Adventure. Eureka marketed it as an edutainment game, with a banner across the cover stating it will help “develop skills in comprehension, mapping, logical thinking, problem solving, and listening.”
