Alone in the Dark 2 was directed by Franck De Girolami, one of the programmers of the original game, and published by Infogrames in 1993 for MS-DOS. The stylish, moody horror of the original is mostly absent, replaced with a disjointed mix of gangsters, pirates, zombies, clowns, and Santa Claus. The emphasis on combat has been stepped up, giving the game a distinctly different feel.
