Hi-Res Adventure #2: Wizard and the Princess
Wizard and the Princess was created by Roberta and Ken Williams, and released for the Apple II in 1980. It was published by their company On-Line Systems, which would eventually become Sierra On-Line.
Wizard and the Princess is a prelude to the King’s Quest series, though you won’t find any familiar characters in it. It takes place in Serenia, the same land where Graham starts his journey in King’s Quest V. (One release of the game was even titled Adventure in Serenia.) You play as a nameless adventurer who sets out to rescue Princess Priscilla, daughter of King George, from the evil wizard Harlin.
Wizard and the Princess is not available for purchase online, but it is included in the Roberta Williams Anthology (1996) and King’s Quest Collection Series (1997), both of which can be purchased second-hand relatively inexpensively. It’s also available on the Internet Archive.
