Kathy Rain: Director’s Cut
Kathy Rain is a point-and-click detective mystery created by Joel Staaf Hästö of Clifftop Games. It was originally released in 2016 for Mac and Windows. The Director’s Cut was released in 2021 with support for additional platforms. This version further developed the story, expanded the visuals to a wider aspect ratio, added new areas and puzzles, and other improvements.
Kathy Rain is set in 1995, in a town named Conwell Springs. The game follows a journalism student named Kathy Rain as she investigates the death of her grandfather and the unusual events surrounding it. The developer has cited Twin Peaks as one of the game’s main influences. This was my first time playing it, and as always I came prepared with a notebook.
