The Crimson Diamond
The Crimson Diamond is a modern text-parser adventure game inspired by The Colonel’s Bequest and other classic mysteries. It was created by Julia Minamata and released for Windows and Mac in 2024.
The Crimson Diamond stars Nancy Maple, an amateur geologist and museum clerk in Toronto. When an enormous diamond is discovered in the former mining town of Crimson, Ontario, Nancy sets out to investigate. It doesn’t take long before she’s investigating much more than the source of the diamond.
I was a beta tester for the game and had already played through it many times when it was released. So I asked my wife unsecretcrush to join me, and share her first time playing it. We also enjoyed some treats from the game: a dish of Jordan almonds, and thumbprint cookies I baked myself. This was easily my favorite game of 2024—I’ve loved every playthrough, even when I was hunting for bugs.
