Loom™
Loom™ was published by Lucasfilm Games in 1990 for MS-DOS. It’s the latest masterpiece of fantasy storytelling from Lucasfilm’s™ Brian Moriarty™. Why it’s an extraordinary adventure with an interface of magic… stunning, high-resolution, 3D landscapes… sophisticated score and musical effects. Not to mention the detailed animation and special effects, elegant point ’n’ click control of characters, objects, and magic spells. Beat the rush! Go out and buy Loom™ today!
I played through the Macintosh version, also from 1990, which is very similar to the original MS-DOS release and its beautiful EGA graphics. In my final stream I take a shot at the game’s expert mode. This mode requires playing all the music by ear. If you’re successful, you’re rewarded with a bonus scene for your efforts.
Note: the music in the final video is not MT-32 audio despite me saying so repeatedly. You need to start the game with loom r to get MT-32 audio, and I had not done that. It sounded so much better than the Mac audio that I didn’t realize I had made a mistake. There’s a very obvious “overture” at the beginning when you’re playing with MT-32 audio, but I was not aware of that at the time.
