Twitch Chat Pronouns
Sharing your pronouns
Twitch Chat Pronouns is an extension by Alejo Pereyra that allows people on twitch.tv to share their pronouns with others. Anyone can visit the Pronouns site and sign in with Twitch to set their pronouns. You can do this even if you don’t use the extension yourself, so other people that use the extension will be able to see your pronouns.
Seeing people’s pronouns in your browser
If you use Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, you can install an extension to see people’s pronouns in Twitch Chat. Visit the site and click the appropriate icon at the top of the page. When someone posts in chat, their pronouns will display next to their username if they have them set.
If you use Microsoft Edge, you should be able to install the Chrome extension without any issues.
If you use Safari, there’s currently no support for the extension.
If you use the Twitch apps for iPhone, iPad, or Android, there’s currently no way to see people’s pronouns. If you’d like support for this, I’d recommend encouraging Twitch to add official support.
Seeing pronouns in OBS
If you stream on Twitch yourself, you can also see pronouns directly in the Twitch Chat panel in OBS. It’s easy to set up and there’s nothing extra to install:
- In OBS, open the File menu and choose Settings.
- Select Stream in the sidebar.
- Under “Twitch Chat Add-Ons”, select FrankerFaceZ.
- Click the OK button at the bottom to save your settings. (This may close and re-open all your Twitch panels, it did for me at least.)
- In the Chat panel, click the gear icon next to the purple “Chat” button, at the bottom.
- Click “Switch to Non-Mod Settings” at the bottom.
- Click “FrankerFaceZ Control Center” toward the bottom. This should open a new window.
- Select “Add-Ons” in the sidebar of that new window.
- Find the Pronouns extension, and click the “Enable” button below it. (You can use the search bar at the top to filter the list.)
